Billing affects what the product lets you do, not just how much you can use it.
Step by step
- Open Billing if it is available on your account and review the current plan or institution-managed status.
- Check whether the workflows you need, such as LMS integration, analytics, or advanced automation, are available on the current plan.
- Confirm whether credits come from an individual account or an institution-managed pool.
- If Billing is hidden, check whether the account is institution-managed before you assume the page is missing.
You should see
You can quickly tell whether the workflow you want is blocked by plan access, by missing billing visibility, or by school-managed account settings.
Keep in mind
- Institution-managed members can have Billing hidden entirely while still receiving feature access.
- Feature gating should be explained anywhere it changes the visible workflow.
Common blockers
- Institution-managed teachers may not see the same billing controls as self-serve teachers.
Use Billing when you need to manage cards, view invoices, or open the Stripe billing portal.
Step by step
- Open Billing.
- Review the saved payment methods first.
- Use + Add New Payment Method if you need to add another card.
- Use the card actions to set a default payment method or remove an old card.
- Scroll to Billing history when you need past billing records.
- Download invoices as needed.
You should see
Payment methods, invoices, and renewal details are easy to audit before you change anything.
Keep in mind
- Invoice history depends on what the billing API returns for the account.
Subscription changes are staged actions, so walk through them carefully instead of assuming they happen instantly.
Step by step
- Open Billing.
- Choose Cancel Subscription if the plan is still active, or choose Reactivate Subscription if it has already been cancelled but not ended yet.
- If you click Cancel Subscription, confirm the action in Cancel Subscription?.
- Provide the required reason when the cancellation flow asks for it.
- Review the scheduled cancellation state after the action completes.
- Use Reactivate Subscription later if you want to restore the plan before it ends.
You should see
You understand the difference between active, cancelled, and reactivated states before changing the subscription.
Keep in mind
- Cancellation is scheduled rather than immediate in the current flow.
The balance alone does not explain how credits are being used. Use the ledger when you need to understand where the credits went.
Step by step
- Open Credits Usage from the billing area.
- Choose a date range, including Custom if you need a specific time window.
- Filter by class, assessment, or activity type.
- Review the ledger entries and the labels attached to each usage event.
- Click Export CSV when you need an artifact for finance or school operations.
You should see
You can explain where credits went and which balances are consumed first.
Keep in mind
- Bonus credits are consumed before other credit types.
- Purchased credits cannot be purchased or consumed while an account is on a free trial.
- The UI groups low-level activity types into friendlier labels.
- The page handles filtering and paging client-side after the API returns the date-range result set.
Common blockers
- Bonus credits are consumed before purchased credits.
- Purchased credits cannot be purchased or consumed in the same way on every trial context.
