"Classwise takes the opposite approach — empowering teachers with AI-powered grading and feedback while keeping students working with pen and paper."

The challenge

I came to Classwise.ai during its beta phase with a daunting project: grading a school-wide assessment taken by nearly 1,000 students, designed to measure skill development across grade levels.

Classwise made it not only manageable, but genuinely transformative.

A product shaped by classroom feedback

What stood out from the start was the team's responsiveness. Derah and his colleagues didn't just listen to feedback, they acted on it, improving the platform in ways I hadn't thought possible in such a short time.

From how files are uploaded and papers are named, to the nuances of the grading workflow, every detail was refined with both teachers and students in mind.

Why the workflow matters

One of the most significant developments was the ability to bifurcate grading: separating accuracy grading from completion-based grading for homework, while still ensuring that meaningful feedback reaches students for their learning.

This was a complex feature to build, and it has made the platform dramatically more flexible in real classroom use.

Why Classwise feels different

But what truly sets Classwise apart is its philosophy. In a world where every EdTech solution seems to push students further onto screens, Classwise takes the opposite approach — empowering teachers with AI-powered grading and feedback while keeping students working with pen and paper.

I believe deeply that analog learning is best for students, and Classwise is the rare tool that allows for an analog classroom. It gives teachers the efficiency of AI without sacrificing what matters most in the classroom.
